This is a curated guide to sea-facing hotels in and around Cyprus, weighted towards the four and five-star end. We cover Limassol from the Molos promenade east along the Amathus strip to Germasogeia, Paphos from the harbour at Kato Paphos out to Coral Bay and Chloraka, the walled city of Nicosia, Kyrenia harbour on the north coast, and a handful of places beyond the big four such as Pissouri, Latchi and the mountain village of Platres. The list is a travel-to radius, not every settlement on the island.

Limassol is the island at full volume: a working port, the Limassol Marina, a sculpture-lined seafront walk at Molos, and the densest run of luxury beach hotels in Cyprus along the old Amathus road, within sight of the ancient city ruins. Paphos is slower and cheaper for what you get, with the Tombs of the Kings and the harbour castle inside a walk of most Kato Paphos hotels, and mild enough in January that people still swim at Coral Bay on a still afternoon.

From November to March a clean three-star double in Kato Paphos or Chloraka sits at €35 to €55 a night, and Nicosia business hotels fall to around €50 at weekends once the offices empty. Those two are consistently the cheapest bases on the island. The same Paphos room costs €120 to €160 in August, and Limassol seafront rarely dips under €70 even in winter.
Mid-July to the end of August is peak: hottest, busiest, dearest, with Nicosia regularly above 38C and coastal rates up 60 to 80 percent. May, June, September and October give sea temperatures of 24 to 27C at roughly a third less. Cheapest months are November, January and February, apart from Christmas week and Orthodox Easter, when Cypriot families fill the coast.
Limassol suits first-timers who want the sea plus a real city: the Molos promenade, the marina and the Amathus strip of four and five-star beach hotels east of town. Paphos is calmer and better value, with Kato Paphos harbour and Coral Bay for families. Nicosia has no beach, but Ledra Street and the walled city are the island at its most everyday.
There are no passenger trains; the last one ran in 1951. Intercity Buses link Limassol and Nicosia in about 50 minutes on the A1 for roughly €5, and Limassol to Paphos runs on the A6 in under an hour. Airport shuttles from Larnaca cost around €8 to €9. Urban buses are €1.50, day tickets €5. For Troodos villages, Akamas or Cape Greco, hire a car at €25 to €40 a day.
Yes. Green Line crossings include Ledra Street on foot in central Nicosia and Agios Dometios by car, about 40 minutes from Kyrenia harbour. Carry your passport for both directions. Most hire cars booked in the south are not insured in the north, so you buy separate cover at the crossing booth, typically €20 to €30 for a few days. Allow queueing time in August.
